About me
Byron Linturn
I'm an independent motion designer and animator working under the name WhaleMilk Studio.
I work end to end on animation projects, from shaping ideas and defining visual direction through to design, animation, sound design and delivery. My focus is on clarity, pacing, and motion that supports communication rather than competing for attention. I’m particularly fond of animating pieces along with the flow and rhythm of music.

Before going independent, I spent several years working in broadcast. That environment taught me how to work quickly, collaborate closely with teams, and deliver under pressure. While I’ve stepped away from the grind of broadcast production, that experience still informs how I approach structure, reliability, and problem-solving. I’m drawn to projects that reward thought and taste, not just speed.
Outside of motion design, I’m drawn to disciplines that reward restraint and composition: photography, classical music, and Art Nouveau architecture. I’m interested in how systems, rhythm, and form shape the way information is experienced. Those influences often find their way into my work.
I also really love cooking!
